Dynamic colour and appearance of thermochromic offset inks
Original language description
Thermochromic printing inks become increasingly important for various applications in smart packaging, security printing and marketing. In most reversible thermochromic inks are microcapsules in which three-component organic system is protected from undesired reactions with the surroundings. The dynamic colour was analysed by the help of visible light reflectance in dependence on temperature of sample. The temperature was varied applying copper plate, which was heated/cooled by thermostatic circulator in the 15 up to 60 °C region. The colour hysteresis were analysed in CIELAB colour space by selected characterization parameters such as four characteristic temperatures, area of the loop in the CIELAB space, and colour difference of the sample at fixed temperature due to different thermal history. The properties of dynamic colour of offset thermochromic samples were compared and discussed.
