Corrosion-inhibitive effects of spinel type pigments in paints

  • Original language description

The paper deals with possibility of replacing toxic inorganic pigments with anticorrosive pigments environmentally friendly. Metal oxides with spinel structure containing Zn(II), Ca(II), and Ti(IV) cations were prepared. Combining these elements gave five various oxide groups, which were dispersed to alkyd, styrene-acrylate and epoxy-resin based binders. Using spinel pigments allows to significantly inhibit the corrosion reaction, in comparison with the corrosion running in clean water.
