Comparison of the antimicrobial efficiency of interior paints
Original language description
The aim of this article is to verify antibacterial and antifungal effects of potential antimicrobial coatings. Tested samples of antimicrobial coatings were prepared in research institute Synpo a. s.. These tested coatings are used as interior coatings and are based on the aqueous acrylic dispersion and different additives. Antimicrobial ability and photoactivity were assumed in these paints based on nano zinc oxide or nano titanium dioxide in different amount of pigment. The microbial cultures from Collection of University of Pardubice were used. The Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus were choose as test bacteria and Penicillium chrysogenum and Aspergillus niger as test mold. The best bacteria and fungi inhibition results show coatings containing nano ZnO pigment.
