Influence of shelf-life stability to acrylic coatings based on organic biocides
Original language description
This work is focused on finding effective antimicrobial additives that work in coatings for a long time without changing their properties. Very important is a wide range of antimicrobial efficiency (according to Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, mold, yeast and algae) for a long time without harmful impact on environment. These tested coatings are used as interior coatings and they are based on the aqueous acrylic dispersion and additives based on different organic biocides. Coating without additives was used as a control sample. The agar dilution method was used for test of antimicrobial ability. The Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus were chosen as test bacteria and Penicillium chrysogenum and Aspergillusniger as test mold. Shelf-life stability was checked after six months and after twelve months. The quality of coatings was not changed after twelve months of shelf-life stability test. Coatings containing additives based on pyrithione sh
