Utilization of non-woody plants for pulp production
Original language description
Lack of forest resources and abundance of non-woody plants have diverted the interest of pulp and paper industry towards the utilization of non-woody plants as a source of raw material in the production of pulp and paper. The chemical compositions, fibremorphology and different pulping technologies of non-woody materials are summarized in this paper. The chemical properties like cellulose content, lignin content, ash content of various non-woody plants, as well as the strength properties, namely the tensile index, tear index, burst index of pulp fibres from different non-woody plants are summarized as well.
