Composite materials consisting of anticorrosive pigments and polyaniline applied in organic coatings
Original language description
This work studies the influence of surface treatment of anticorrosive pigments by polyaniline (PANI) on anticorrosive efficiency of coatings but also on their mechanical resistance. Pigments having different composition and particle shape were selected for surface modification (graphite, pigments based on iron oxide, silicates and mixed metal oxide). The particle surface was covered by conducting polymer during chemical oxidation polymerization of aniline monomer directly in reaction mixture. The PANI modification led to decrease in surface hardness of paint films and coatings showed an excellent adhesion to the substrate. The purpose of this study was to find coating system that will not only provide excellent corrosion protection but will also have very good resistance to mechanical deformation. In this regard, very good combination of these both aspects was achieved for the surface modification of graphite, talc and ferrite pigment.
