Original language description
The genus Arcobacter is closely related to the well-known human pathogen Campylobacter jejuni. These bacteria are today dreadful pathogens and constitute a certain threat, particularly in the form of alimentary infection. Arcobacters are recognized as emerging foodborne pathogens as well. Water and food products of animal origin are probably the most important sources of infection. However resistance to antimicrobial agents has become an increasingly important and pressing global problem. In view of control measures to be used to prevent or to eliminate the hazard of Arcobacter spp. in food and others.
