The aim of this work was to investigate the displacement washing process of soda pulp cooked from rapeseed straw. Displacement washing process was described by displacement washing curves recorded for alkali lignin like a tracer. The shape of the washingcurves obtained experimentally indicated that the displacement of black liquor was non-ideal, i. e., it was between the ideal limits of plug flow and perfectly mixed flow. Mathematical treatment of the washing curves, which were obtained as a response to the step input signal, gave a dimensionless criterion known as the Péclet number characterizing the displacement of lignin from the pulp pad. The preliminary results obtained showed that the differences in intrinsic properties between soda rapeseed andkraft wood fibres have an impact on the displacement washing of soda pulp.
