This submitted publication on Selected Aspects of Security and Protection of the Population is divided into five chapters. The first, the introductory chapter, discusses the security of the Czech Republic both in the context of European integration, as well as separately. It briefly addresses the cyber criminality is emphasized since it is especially important in the age of information technologies and it is followed up with the chapter 4 and 5. The chapter 2 deals with the economy of civil security. This chapter provides important insights on the issues of risk and its prevention. The third chapter deals with security in relation to sustainable development and looks at the problem from a managerial point of view in particular. Comparing to traditionalrisk analysis it can bring useful results. The fourth chapter is engaged in the issue of modeling security situations. The fifth chapter is devoted in more details to the issue of the authentication process of a user.
