Four Dimensions of Corporate Social Responsibility – Empirical Survey

  • Original language description

Corporate Social Responsibility is a management concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns in their business operations and interactions with their stakeholders. CSR is built on four pillars (dimensions) – economic, social, environmental and philanthropic. The main objective of the contribution is to find out more detailed information on CSR on transport enterprises through research. The work focuses on enterprises in the Transport and Storage sector, where primary research is carried out. This sector brings its specifics. 28 transport companies are included in the primary survey carried out in the form of a questionnaire survey. Empirical research focuses, among other things, on the use of individual activities and CSR measures in medium and large enterprises in selected regions of the Czech Republic. The evaluation of the questionnaires is done in IBM SPSS Statistics and Excel programs, such as tables of frequencies. The evaluation of the questionnaire survey shows that it is not possible to say which CSR area is most preferred, but their order of importance can be determined: 1st social, 2nd economic, 3rd environmental and 4th philanthropic pillar. Another area focused on monitoring the benefits and costs associated with the CSR concept cannot be answered unequivocally. Empirical research in transport companies has shown that they only partially define costs related to CSR and the benefits are assessed only intuitively.
