  • Original language description

Computer simulation represents an efficient technique supporting optimal planning related to infrastructure and operation of complex systems. The contribution concentrates on architecture and structure of simulation models reflecting railway nodes/junctions, whereas a case study of marshalling yard illustrates utilised approaches. The following kinds of problems are covered: (i) initial demands on the marshalling yard simulator, (ii) specification of a marshalling yard system and finally (iii) originalconception of simulation model of that system based on autonomous agents' paradigm. Special attention is paid to modelling of control and technological processes. Agent-based architecture of simulation model enables to keep the model structure very closeto modelled system - for example the functions of a conceptual model are well-comprehensible also for the railway technologists. Individual stages of simulation model construction are described as well as a structure of required input da
