Transient problems in rolling contact of wheel and rail
Original language description
The vehicle-track dynamical system is not always in steady state but transient phenomena are often observed. The initial part of the paper deals with mechanical transient phenomena in general view and focuses on those occurring in driving system dynamics. Further, attention is paid to wheel-rail contact and the problems of transient rolling. This situation cannot be handled by contact models which assume steady rolling. Therefore a simplified model of transient rolling has been developed and utilised insimulations. The results are presented in the final part of the paper in the form of traction distribution plots and creepage-force diagrams.
