Parameterization of Traction Battery Models for Performance Evaluation in Ecological Rail Transport

  • Original language description

This paper presents the results in analyzing LTO and NMC traction batteries used on railways. The parameters of equivalent electrical circuits used in simulation calculations are determined. The aim was to show the procedure for building an equivalent model of LTO and NMC batteries based on the principles of mathematical modeling integrating the results obtained by real measurements on batteries. The presented model uses the principle of the Thevenin model combined with a mathematical model that represents battery's OCV as a function integrating the battery state and capacity. The automated measurement we have built for automatically obtaining the parameters of the Thevenin battery model is presented. The simulated results are compared with the results obtained experimentally on LTO and NMC batteries, which are subsequently combined in the process of modeling the electric battery drive using the Thevenin model. The resulting model is further used for analyses in locomotive electric drive systems in accordance with the principles of the Green-Deal objectives.
