A new algorithm of discrete PID controller tuning is presented in this contribution. It is well known that there have been introduced many techniques for PID controller tuning, either theoretical or experimental ones. However, this algorithm is suitableespecially for highly nonlinear processes. It uses model of the controlled process in shape of piecewise-linear neural network which is linearized continuously and resulting linearized model is used for PID controller tuning. While in this paper the algorithm is described in theory, in the electronic version, there are mentioned some practical applications, too.
