New DSD Measurement in Prague - Parameterisation, Hail Detection
Original language description
A new videodistrometer was installed in Prague in 2010. The measurement of equivolumetric hydrometeor diameter, fall velocity, oblateness, shape etc. is performed continuously. For this contribution we processed the 2011 year data and also selected hailevent in August, 2010. We derived parameters of exponential drop size distribution (DSD) model No= 633 m-3mm-1 and lambda = 2.3mm-1 from one year data. In the case of gamma DSD analytical approximation we found No= 321 m-3mm-1-mý , lambda=1.6 mm-1 and mý= -1.5. Regarding hail detection we concluded that the best criterion is the particle size (diameter above 7mm detects hail).
