Raindrop Spectrum Generator for Rain Attenuation Estimation on Microwave Links and Meteoradar Applications
Original language description
This article describes rain drop properties from the radio-communication links attenuation as well as from the meteoradar applications point of view. Drop size distribution (DSD) is found to be most important and its long term measurement from the CzechRepublic is shown. A polynomial method of its approximation was tested and recommended to increase the resolution. For the meteoradar measurement modeling a DSD generator is hereby proposed and tested - the generator is based on the optional total raindrop number and optional raindrop size distribution (in this article the long term measured DSD prototype from the Czech Republic is used. This measurement was realized in 1998 and 1999 period). Formulas to derive rain attenuation on microwave link from DSD as well as formulas expressing radar reflectivity from DSD are added.
