Original language description
Power transmission lines are often used very inefficiently. One possible way how to increase their effectiveness is utilization of dynamic thermal rating instead of standard static thermal ratings. Dynamic thermal rating can be calculated from actual conductor state and ambient weather conditions using methodology described in IEEE Std. 738-2006. For this calculation, we create an IEEE Std. 738 Library along with demo software to demonstrate its functionality. Sample calculations from IEEE Std. 738-2006were reiterated using the Library. Then we compared the results with results from IEEE Std. 738-2006 sample calculations.
