Combined antenna array for primary and secondary surveillance radars
Original language description
In this paper a new design of a combined antenna array for two air traffic control (ATC) radars i.e. a 3D primary surveillance radar (PSR) and a monopulse secondary surveillance radar (SSR) is presented. Usually the antennas of the PSR and SSR radars are attached separately on a common shaft rotating around the vertical axis. The presented solution offers good antennas characteristics in the two frequency bands simultaneously while maintaining a low antenna profile, desired mainly in mobile or deployable applications. In the paper the integrated antenna configuration is described and selected topics related to implementation are addressed .
