Doppler Frequency Estimation using Moving Target Detection Filter Bank

  • Original language description

The paper describes a novel method of discrete angular Doppler frequency and radar target radial velocity component estimation in a pulse Doppler radar system. The method processes output of a Moving Target Detection (MTD) filter bank, and evaluates normalized difference of Doppler channels with the highest amplitudes of a target echo. The proposed method provides reasonable precision, even for quite low SNR. The most significant advantage of the proposed method is resolution capability for multiple targets with close radial velocity within a single space and Doppler resolution cell. The proposed estimator is of low computation complexity.
