Prediction of Earth Dam Creep Behaviour Using Numerical Modelling

  • Original language description

One of the most important problems when dealing with dam stability is its time dependent irreversible structural change - co called creep behaviour. The paper introduces both the theoretical and practical application of relatively simple method based onequations of state which are used in the frame of the finite element method solution. By this method, the time development of strain, stress and local stability of earth dams was carried out. The paper shows some partialof creep behaviour solution of theearth dam Dalešice, two other Slovak dams - Ruzin and Liptovska Mara - were solved by the method proposed. Calculated displacements were compared with obsedved values at the time period 1985 - 1996.
