Use of regression analysis for statistical assessment of historical rain series
Original language description
Modelling of runoff process depends on the stochastic component of rainfall and on design storm abstractions. In assessment of runoff from urban catchments, one of main problems is the lack of adequate and reliable rainfall data measured within the catchments area. Observed rainfall and runoff data from catchments represent valuable information and have enabled significant development in the field of urban drainage. Since the long series of rainfall data are generally available from hydrometeorologicalgauging network, it is worthwhile applying the statistical analysis to these data in order to define the probability (or return period) of the occurrence of storms for a given duration. Basic rainfall data processing and statistical analysis provide onlyelementary information for urban storm drainage designs, planning and management. The return periods of runoff effects have often been derived from long-term simulation using numerical determinated model with historic rainfall series. Ho
