    The conference presentation deals with basic problems of design and experimental verification of structural glass systems considering their load-carrying capacity and displacement under imposed actions. Both the problems of ultimate strength and deformation criteria are briefly discussed. Through various examples of experimental programs simulating the actions of uniformly distributed and local loads the mechanism of failure and the derivation of appropriate ultimate design loads are illustrated.
