Research on concrete disintegration using pulsating water jets

  • Original language description

One of the modern methods of removal of degraded concrete layers is high speed water jet technology. The concrete is degraded mostly by action of freeze, aggressive gases and vapours from atmosphere. Regulations in ecology (dust, noise, vibrations, deposits) and in concrete repair quality (crack absence, surface structure, reinforcement), but also economical aspects have supported the introduction of water jet tools in the area of concrete repair. The paper summarizes knowledge obtaining during researchof the effect of the corrosion of concrete on the interaction of the high speed water jet and the concrete. Concrete surface layers of various qualities were re-moved by continuous and pulsating water jets, continuous rotating and pulsating rotating jets as well as flat continuous and flat pulsating jets. Results obtained up to now proves that generation of high-frequency pulsations in high speed water jets leads to substantial enhancement of effects of water jets on concrete
