Measurement of longitudinal vibration frequency temperature dependence in aluminum bar
Original language description
This paper presents a method for measurement of resonant frequency of aluminum bar longitudinal vibration. This has been done using an electret microphone and computer with a soundcard. The oscillations have been induced by axial impact so the method isessentially impact-echo. The sound was analysed by a specific software written in Python which calculated frequency spectrum and found several dominant peaks. These peaks represent fundamental frequency as well as higher harmonics. Moreover, the aluminumbar was tube-shaped with a resistance hot wire drawn along the center through all the length of a bar. The temperature changes have been measured by contactless thermometer placed at the middle of the bar. Using this arrangement it has been measured howresonant frequency depends on temperature.
