Deflocculation of brick clays for clay roofing tile production
Original language description
This article is aimed at outlining the possibility of decreasing the energy consumption of the production of clay roofing tiles, mainly relating to the quantity decrease of mixing water of raw material mixture (plastic body) that must be dried during theproduction technology, and for the eventual temperature decrease of the firing or for the increasing of the utility properties of the body at the actual firing temperature. The influence of different kinds of fluxing agents has been considered, used more frequently in the sphere of fine ceramics (production of ceramic tiles, sanitary ceramics etc.), on the viscosity of suspension made from the mixture of two brick clays used for roofing tiles production. The plastic body properties (quantity of mixingwater, drying shrinkage, flexural strength of green body) and properties of the fired body (water absorption, impermeability, flexural strength, capillarity and frost resistance among others) have been observed regarding the use of clay r
