Buckling Sensitivity Analysis of Thin-Walled Structures using Shell Finite Elements and Nonlinear Computational Methods
Original language description
The paper analyzes the influence of initial imperfections on the ultimate limit state of a slender strut utilizing the ANSYS program. Geometrical and material non-linear finite element method was used for the theoretical analysis. Modelling of the steelstructure was performed using SHELL elements. Sobol's sensitivity analysis was used to determine the sensitivity of a strut's load-carrying capacity with respect to the variance of initial imperfections. The input imperfections were measured and their random realizations were computed using their histograms whilst employing the LHS method.
