Reinforced concrete slab bridges strengthening: reliability assessment
Original language description
The aim of the paper is to study and evaluate the existing reinforced concrete slab bridge behavior before and after strengthening. The bridge was calculated by the nonlinear finite element fracture mechanics to model first experiment and then real structure. As many uncertainties are involved in the problem, a statistical approach was used to assess the influence of uncertainties on structural response (load-carrying capacity). It is based on a randomization of nonlinear finite element analysis of concrete structures using advanced statistical and reliability techniques. An increase of reliability after strengthening could be assessed and compared to the code specifications.
