RATIONALIZATION OF EXPERIMENTAL WORKS DURING RESEARCH ON MASONRY CEMENTS USING ULTRASONIC PULSE METHOD
Original language description
Within the scope of masonry cement development, strength factor is one of crucial parameters being destructively tested in testing machine on prisms made of standard mortar. Various combinations of particular masonry cement components are checked duringthis development. For this purpose, considerable number of prisms is necessary to manufacture in order to interpret test results properly and to opt for optimal cement composition. One of experimental work rationalization ways is use of nondestructive testing methods. In the present case, ultrasonic pulse method was used. Based on test results, test procedure was proposed along with elaboration of calibration correlation for calculation of both compressive strength and bending tensile strength on the basis of ultrasonic pulse velocity. Calibration correlations elaborated feature close correlation: r = 0.957 to 0.991. In this manner, reality of ultrasonic pulse method usability for cement strength testing was demonstrated.
