Fracture Surfaces of Cement-Based Materials and Porous Rocks Investigated by Confocal Microscopy
Original language description
Confocal microscopy is a unique tool for imaging and analysis of fracture surfaces of solid materials. Its valuable capability to create sharp three-dimensional digital maps of solid surfaces is a significant research instrument for investigation of therelations between surface features and volume properties of materials. This contribution deals with such relations and shows that surface roughness of fracture surfaces is closely related to the compressive strength of investigated materials.
