DETECTION OF A CRACK IN CONCRETE ELEMENT BY IMPACT-ECHO METHOD

  • Original language description

Crack in concrete can be found by impact-echo which is an application resonancece method. At first an estimation of the dimensions and material quality shall be made. After an impact of a hard object, the concrete bears the pulse from one side of the tested element to the end and back, first natural oscillation is detectable. Considering pulse velocity in the concrete, the length or depth of the crack are simply calculateable.
