Risk Mapping and its Application in Flood Protection in the Czech Republic

  • Original language description

The main aim of the paper is to present specially developed techniques for the assembly of flood hazard, danger, vulnerability and flood risk maps. The following specific problems are discussed in more detail: an application and extension of the danger matrix approach and the definition of residual danger; and the creation of vulnerability maps taking into account sensitive objects, potential pollution sources and historical monuments. These issues have been tested in practical applications at several locations in the Czech Republic.
