    Current research of the authors is aimed at an estimation of the extent of the inelastic zone (fracture process zone ? FPZ) ahead of the tip of a propagating macro-crack in quasi-brittle materials. Analytical description of the stress and deformation fields in the cracked body by means of Williams power series is employed for the accurate approximation of these fields, which are then used within the procedure for the FPZ estimation. Coefficients of the higher order terms of the power series are calculated using the over-deterministic method from results of finite element analysis. This paper is focused on selected aspects of the technique of determination the higher-order term coefficients.
