Currently, there are many sources of historical maps. These are different web portals, web services, depositories, databases of archives etc. However the offer of information services and information of products from these sources is disunited and in many cases insufficient too. Above all, there is no information on the origin and definition of structural elements of maps (geodetic bases, the method of mapping, the method of digitization, etc.). These pieces of information can be found in other sources,but searching is not only time consuming, but nowadays even with the support of the latest technology almost ineffective. What we really miss is the information whether the map in question became a subject for further research and what results were achieved.
