Amelioration of the Porosity in Silicate Based Materials

  • Original language description

This article deals with the application of lightweight concretes for thermal insulation purposes. The main aim is to increase their porosity, which is closely related to the thermal resistance of the lightweight concrete. The purpose of selecting appropriate raw materials is to eliminate this imperfection and propose a material that would generate sufficient low heat transfer to allow the reduction of costs associated with the insulated equipment, while preserving the heat resistance of materials used on the equipment. The article outlines the design of such material, its potential applications, advantages with respect to existing materials, and some basic properties.
