Determination of linear thermal transmittance for curved detail
Original language description
This paper deals with the determination of linear thermal transmittance for buildings with rounded shapes. Calculation of linear thermal transmittance is a standard problem in determining the influence of thermal bridges on the overall energy performanceof buildings. Computational methods are known for ordinary rectangular buildings. Current energy-saving architecture designs buildings with rounded organic shapes quite frequently. Not only it corresponds with new trends in architecture, but also servesto improve the area to volume ratio of buildings. In such cases the value of linear thermal transmittance calculated by standard methods isn't accurate enough. This paper presents an analysis of the influence of the curvature of the buildings surface tolinear thermal transmittance. It provides information applicable for buildings assessment in engineering practice.
