ANALYSIS OF COMPOSITE SLABS USING SMALL-SCALE TESTS
Original language description
The typical failure mode of composite slabs using thin-walled steel sheeting with prepressed embossments is longitudinal shear. The resulting bearing capacity is a combination of friction and mechanical interlock influenced by sheeting geometry, materials properties and other factors. It is then hard to describe the bearing capacity analytically or numerically. The nowadays design methods for composite slabs describe the load bearing capacity of the slab using large-scale laboratory bending tests. Small-scale shear tests present an advantageous alternative to the bending tests. They can determine the shear characteristics of the sheeting and thus significantly facilitate the design. However they cannot include all the factors acting in the bended slab. Therefore an appropriate evaluating method must be applied on their results. Slip Block Test and New Simplified Method are applied on these results and compared. Another difficulty of the small-scale test is their dependence on test set
