Optimization of composite steel and concrete beams with the lightweight concrete deck in terms of the influence of material strength on carrying capacity - parametric study

  • Original language description

Well designed composite steel and concrete structures highlight the good material properties and lower the deficiencies of steel and concrete, in particular they make use of high tensile strength of steel and high stiffness of concrete. The most common composite steel and concrete structure is a simply supported beam, which concrete deck transferring the deck load to a beam is connected to the steel cross-section. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the suitability of using compact concrete with the lightweight aggregates for composite steel and concrete beams and also to find an efficient combination of high-strength steel and lightweight high-performance concrete and to find out what is the influence of using high-strength materials on the design ofcomposite steel and concrete beams. The paper is based on the parametric study which summarizes the results of the numerical analysis of composite steel and concrete beams with the lightweight concrete deck which is the base for future e
