The paper discusses the different approach in designing railway stations in Germany and compares some aspects with current trends in designing railway station in Czech Republic. In particular, the different approach in designing the station track layout, e.g. the distance between the axis of tracks, length of passing tracks, crossovers or overall track layout of station for commute traffic using the cycle timetable. Germany, like most others European countries, is using the overlaps
