Stochastic Analysis of the Lateral Beam Buckling of Beams with initial imperfections
Original language description
The presented paper deals with the reliability of a steel I-beam under ultimate limit state. The pure major axis bending is considered. The paper investigates into a statistical analysis of static resistance of I-beam which was analysed with respect to lateral-torsional buckling using geometric nonlinear solution. The beam was modelled applying the programme ANSYS on behalf of the beam element BEAM188. All initial imperfections were considered to be random quantities. Initial curvature and rotation of the beam axis had a shape of half-wave sine function. The correlation between amplitudes of initial curvature and initial rotation of the beam axis was a parameter for the solution within the interval from -1 to 1. Realizations of initial imperfections were simulated applying the Latin Hypercube Sampling method. The influence of this correlation upon the variance of the mean value and standard deviation of the load-carrying capacity was found.
