Analysis of thermal and visual comfort in renovated school classrooms
Original language description
Energy renovation of school buildings is therefore a vital task, which would not only take into consideration the indoor climate comfort, but also to provide emphasis on the energy saving potentials and guidelines for the future school designs. For an energy efficient renovation of educational buildings, the International Energy Agency (IEA) has already provided sufficient knowledgebase and information on retrofit technologies, energy saving approaches, and ventilation strategies. In this paper, the study focuses on thermal performance and daylight evaluation of classroom environments in an existing school building in central Europe, by using computer simulation method to carry out analysis of the optimized renovation concept within its locality and again for the specified climatic conditions. The findings of this study have shown potentials for optimized renovation concepts of school classrooms for energy efficiency and indoor environments concerning both thermal and visual comfort.
