Experimental testing of Solidification Products containing hazardous waste-Neutralization Sludge with aim of material utilization
Original language description
In order to reduce the amount of hazardous waste-Neutralization Sludge (NS) this work deals with the possibility of using solidification and stabilization (S/S) technology to transform the hazardous waste with the aim to achieve material utilization of Solidification Product (SP). NS have been characterized as waste arising after neutralization of waste acids from various industrial processes that contain hazardous substances, mainly heavy metals. Solidification Products (SPs) prepared according to five different solidification formulas were tested according to the optimal testing methodology. Physical and mechanical properties-compressive strength, bulk density, permeability were determined with the Solidification Products (SPs) and within environmental demands the leaching test was carried out. Solidification Products (SPs) have to meet required properties to ensure its future safe use, e.g. as material for base layer of roads or material for reclamation of landfills.
