The current situation shows that planning the development of cities and municipalities cannot be limited by administrative boundaries. There are numerous problems which can be meaningfully solved solely by the means of cooperation. In the Czech Republic, registers of various subjects, i.e. individual municipalities as well, are being founded for the purposes of the state and public administration. Data from the register shows that substantial part of the union of municipalities was founded for the purposes of building water pipelines, sewerages or sewage water treatment plants. Although this purpose is still up-to-date, the aim of this article is to show the use of the register of municipalities for other investment activities and to suggest a possible way of funding as well.
