Nonlinear Numerical Study of Pin Joint at Static and Cyclic Loading
Original language description
The design of pin joints in accordance with present regulations suffers from high rate of insufficiency. The load-carrying capacity calculated with respect to regulations is significantly lower than the real load-carrying capacity that is measured on testing specimens. This fact is also proved by numerical simulations of pin joints that utilize complex material models of metals. Such simulations may advantageously be used for the effective design of the pin joints and for observation of nonlinear response at cyclic loading. The presented article brings basic study of behaviour of the chosen pin joint simulated in environment of computational system ANSYS. The nonlinear response is modelled with use of material model based on von Mises formulation of plasticity surface that was calibrated on the basis of experimentally measured data. Both, the simulation of static loading up to load carrying capacity and simulation of cyclic loading which monitors development of plastic deformations is contained.
