Original language description
The article deals with the use of voluntary associations of municipalities for investment purposes in connection with regional policy. Voluntary associations of municipalities represent one of the ways of interregional co-operation. Usually they take form of a public group or association as a legal entity and the purpose of all associations of municipalities is to provide public services to their members. The aim of the article is to find a possible way of financing investment activities in a community with a focus on environmental education. In fulfilling the objectives set out by the regional policy, municipality should develop and improve the overall living conditions. Municipalities are therefore trying to invest in their development to comply with the increasing needs and requirement of their inhabitants. Regional policy is an important part of European Union policy. Although environmental policy is one of the youngest regional policy activities, it is currently presented as one of the most important topics. Problem of municipal financing is based on the lack of finance. One way to deal with the lack of finance is to co-operation of municipalities. Voluntary associations of municipalities can use both grants from the EU funds and grants from the state and regional budgets for investment activities.
