Complex Analysis and Comparison of Elastic Adhesive Systems Intended for Structural Bonding of Façade Panels

  • Original language description

One of the current issues in the building industry is the revitalization of buildings, or their outer shells, that were constructed before 1990. Currently, the vast majority of such façades utilise mechanical joints. However, façades with bonded joints are a highly convenient alternative, and their use is not restricted to reconstruction projects. The potential of the use of bonded joints in practical applications has been studied by the authors since 2013. A variety of façade cladding materials were selected for investigation via a range of different tests. In order to find the most suitable connecting material, different types of industrial adhesives intended for structural bonding were tested. The phases involved in the preparation, subsequent production and testing of test specimens were observed and monitored in detail with the aim of confirming or disproving the hypothesis that, for certain materials, bonded joints can be a more suitable anchoring solution than other options.
