EXPERIENCE OF GEOLOGICAL ENGINEERING SURVEYS OF PROBLEMATIC HIGHWAY SECTIONS IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC
Original language description
The paper deals with the experience of engineering geological surveys of problematic sections of motorways D47 and D2 in the Czech Republic. Into selected sections of the D47 motorway near Ostrava waste material of blast furnace slag was deposited, which proved to be very problematic. Another problem solved was the solution of surface and embankment defects of the D2 highway near the town of Hustopeče, located in Moravia, where in some places there have been surface drops of up to several centimeters. In the embankment body, rock anomalies were identified by geophysical measurements in some sections, which were remnants of late-wine cellars buried in the past. For the interpretation of the territory, in addition to the knowledge of the existing archival and actual documentation of geological wells, a combination of geophysical methods of measurement were used - resistive tomography ERT, shallow refractive seismics SRS and georadar method. Geodetically, motorway surface disturbances and connections of existing underground cellars in the vicinity of the embankment were documented. Through a comprehensive analysis of available data and the use of geophysical methods, it was possible to identify and interpret specific problems of foundation soil in the area and to recommend measures to eliminate or mitigate the adverse effects.
