Snow hydrology - temperature influence
Original language description
Snow cover is an integral component of the hydrologic forecasting process in many parts of the world. For instance for avalanche danger prediction and flood forecasting, the spatial and temporal evolution of the snowpack, the speed at which it melts, and the impact from the water released are very important. Are examined the influences of environmental conditions on snow distribution, snow cover characteristics and energy exchanges between the snow and atmosphere. The article is focused on influence of temperature (air, snow cover) and changes of snow cover electrical parameters measured by electrical impedance spectrometry method. Some results from measurement in Levi, Finland are shown.
