    Revitalization of Brownfield Sites – Example of the Solution of the Geotechnical Issues

    There are many obstacles to the regeneration of brownfield sites, and many of them are associated with geotechnical hazards. Evaluation of the stability of waste-soil landfill after its extension linked with the processes related to the rehabilitation of the former factory brownfield site in Brno, Czech Re-public is reported in this paper. The geotechnical hazard coming from the uncertainties in the density and strength of the waste soil material and in the position of borders between natural slope and the placed waste material are discussed. The use of the Digital Model of Relief (DMR) for the purpose of geomorphology evaluation is presented. The planned extension will not af-fect the stability of landfill, based on the results of the study. The manage-ment of the brownfield sites by the city of Brno is outlined as well in the paper.
