Design of the flooring termination detail at the wall base from the historical and contemporary point of view
Original language description
This article deals with the issue of sound insulation properties of floor structures with respect to the design of the flooring termination detail at the wall base. The first part of the paper summarizes the requirements of valid legislation in the Czech Republic regarding these types of structures. In the following section, the most common designs used in the course of history are summarized and the results previously achieved by them are presented. At the same time, recently used designs are introduced. The main part of the article is devoted to the experiment which was developed in the framework of applied research within the grant program TRIO No. FV10075. Specifically, different types of the flooring termination detail at the wall base in the experimental building were measured. This paper publishes several measured variants - floor structure with a floor without a flooring, with tiled flooring terminated at the wall base with the use of a flexible cord and with tiled flooring terminated at the wall base by a commonly available skirting board and finally an incorrect variant in which tiled flooring is terminated with a firm connection through the wall base. All measured variants were then applied at two structurally different floor structures.
