Contribution to the durability testing of the lime-based render
Original language description
Although, lime based renders are considered for sacrificing part of historic structures, they are intended to endure environmental influences within a reasonable period of time. Since the lime based renders have usually been placed in several layers, each of them having the specific properties and composition, the durability tests of these materials should be also performed on the composite specimens. In this paper, a method for the preparation of lime based render samples for different durability tests has been presented. The base material used, was chosen as a representative natural stone historically used with lime based renders as final coatings in the central Balkan region. Two, lime based mortars produced as base and top rendering layers, were placed over the base material, and cut in fresh state, with specially prepared steel greed. In this way, 49 specimens were prepared in the same time and used for testing of resistance to freeze-thaw cycles, wetting and drying cycles and resistance to the s
